We all have similar wishes as Trustee Amelio but as for Harrison moving forward I don’t agree. We do need more police presence. If anyone has gone to the downtown area on any weekend you will see a number of traffic infractions such as double parking, turning left out of Dunkin Donuts and blocking traffic in one direction, parking in crosswalks, on corners blocking the view of the road, and not a police officer in sight! We have a “Downtown Revitalization Committee” of who Trustee Amelio is a member. This committee has been formed for about a tear or more and there has been not one thing done to revitalize the downtown area. The businesses mentioned in this article are not in the downtown area according to the definition in the Master Plan (all $40, 00 of it). The downtown area is in shambles. The roads are terrible and still no parking. All we here is the MTA project. In a debate before an election Mr Belmont did not seem ready for the MTA project what happened to him after he was elected. The only new stores in the downtown area are a dollar store?, and puppy mill Puppy Store and now a Laundromat . How about we stop politicking and our elected officials do what’s right for our town. All of our town not just the Platinum Mile!!!! View Comment
We need more police to keep an eye out for the blood thirsty young people who have traces of marijuana in their cars. Go downtown on any weekend and see all kinds of traffic infractions but not one police officer to be seen. Now we need to hire 3 – 4 more police officers to do what hide out on streets to harass whoever they see fit and possibly make a major drug bust? View Comment
I read in the Journal News that the deadline for submitting a teacher evaluation plan for the NYS Schools is in January 2013. Mr Wool commented that Harrison will not meet this deadline which will cost the HCS $150,000 in aid. Where do you think we will make that money up, IN TAXES to the residents of Harrison. I wonder how the Harrison Teachers would respond to a student who refuses to meet a deadline for an assignment. Why is this man still here? View Comment
Here is an example of the brave police work in Harrison. They busted a kid with one clear bag. Was there any weed in the bag? We will never know. We hired new police officers, purchased new cars and here is why? Go downtown Harrison on any weekend. Cars are double parked, people turning left out of Dunkin Doughnuts block traffic until someone lets them in and people parking illegally on corners or in illegal spots. We could probably make countless amount of money with these infractions alone but no police in sight. Also what is with the cameras that are supposed to keep us safe. No one looking at these since most of the infractions are within the range of these cameras. I guess all of the police are concentrating on catching these blood thirsty marijuana possession cases.
