SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Health-conscious Westchester residents now have another spot to pick up organic, take-home meals.
Banking on the success of its Organic Kitchen restaurant's pick-up window in Mount Kisco, Skinny Buddha Fitness Center has now opened a sit-down café in Scarsdale.
Co-owners Elyce Jacobson (who is also the chef) and Shaka Taffawa said they expanded in response to “countless requests from personal training clients” who wanted to have prepared foods to bring home to their families, according to a press release.
“We have had much such success with our organic, wholesome food in our current location. We know that food and fitness go together. Being that Scarsdale is a fitness-oriented community, we are excited to open our new café,” Jacobson said in a press release.
The July 6 opening went well, Jacobson said in a press release. "We got a nice, warm welcome from the community."
Skinny Buddha Organic Café is at 6 Depot Plaza, right across from the Scarsdale train station, which makes it handy for harried and hungry commuters to pop in, grab some nutritious chow, and go, according to a press release. Delivery and catering also will be offered at the Scarsdale location, Jacobson said in a press release.
The menu will be the same as the one at Organic Kitchen. Jacobson said all ingredients are certified organic, fats are used sparingly and dairy ingredients are made with hormone-free milk, according to a press release. Products also are non-GMO and do not contain hydrogenated fats or oils, she said in a press release.
Jacobson and Taffawa said they support local farmers and only use meats that have been raised in New York state pastures without the use of antibiotics or hormones, according to a press release.
