Each year, children, partners and families team up to paint some of the finest pumpkins, ghouls, ghosts, black cats and other Halloween fan favorites directly on participating window fronts in the business district, giving the village a unique feel in advance of Oct. 31.

All youth in Grades 3-10 who attend any Scarsdale school are eligible for the window-painting contest. The parent-child collaborations are not officially competing and are designed for students in first and second grade.

Last year, nearly 1,000 residents participated in the popular seasonal contest that brings out the artist in every village resident. Following the window painting contest, volunteers with the Scarsdale Chamber of Commerce will choose a grand prize winner, who will be awarded $100. The winners of the contest will be celebrated at an awards night in November.

The annual Scarsdale Chamber of Commerce Halloween Window Painting Contest will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18. Those interested in participating can register online on the village’s Department of Recreation website.
