SCARSDALE, N.Y. – In an effort to boost recruitment, the Junior League of Central Westchester (JLCW) will hold a pair of informational coffee hours at historic Wayside Cottage in Scarsdale.
At 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22 and 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, women from Eastchester, Greenburgh, Scarsdale and White Plains dedicated to volunteer work are invited to attend the semi-annual recruiting events.
Women of all races, religions and nationalities who are devoted to helping others are invited to become members.
“The JLCW is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women by providing leadership training and improving the community through numerous volunteer projects,” media Chair Diana K. Mitchell said in a statement. “The JLCW is comprised of diverse women from Central Westchester and we welcome the opportunity for women of all races, religions and national origins who are committed to volunteerism to become members”
At the informational sessions, current members will inform prospects of the JLCW’s efforts to improve the lives of the less fortunate, as well as the activities, fundraisers and projects that help support these initiatives.
“Each year, the JLCW opens its doors to women of central Westchester who want to become involved in an organization that makes a difference in the lives of hundreds of local children and individuals, offers training in a variety of educational and leadership opportunities, and provides opportunities for personal growth, leadership and lifelong friendship,” Mitchell noted.
“It’s a great way to meet other diverse women in Central Westchester and get involved in the community.”
New members will be trained while completing a short-term community service project. The projects are designed to help the community, allow members to familiarize themselves with the league and begin networking with fellow volunteers.
"I am thrilled to welcome a new group of women to the JLCW who share in our commitment to give to their community in truly meaningful ways," JLCW President Nikki Hahn said. "We are a diverse membership ranging from working professionals to stay-at-home moms, all looking for the unique combination of personal enrichment and fellowship offered through the JLCW.”
Women interested in attending the informational coffees are asked to RSVP by Friday to email@example.com or by phone to 914-723-6130.
