SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Where can young children go to beat the heat in Scarsdale?
While the mercury was rising this week in town, young children and their caregivers were having fun and cooling off at the Scarsdale Library.
The kids were coloring, cutting and pasting pictures. Most children were coloring pictures and cutting them out to create their own Masterpieces
Caregiver Kerry Ferguson took her charges to the library for the first time Thursday for Summer Crafts.
I brought the girls here to get a book and I saw a flyer for the Summer Crafts for today. I asked them if they would like to come and they said yes. They have been looking forward to coming here because they like to color and to paint.
"They were looking forward to coming here because the girls are new to Scarsdale and are hoping to make new friends.
Do the girls want to come here again for Summer Crafts? The girls answered unanimously YES! The coloring and the variety of the crayons topped their favorites list.
The library supplies stickers, papers, crayons, glue, markers and pictures. Karen Zielinski, head of Childrens Services, explained that this is a drop-in Summer Crafts. This allows children who are in camp to come by after camp and make something.
Summer craft dates are posted on the library website and flyers are all around the library. Those who are on the e-mail list will get a message telling them about events that the library is offering.
