Scarsdale Opens Travel Camp to Current 8th-Graders

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Scarsdale eighth-graders now have another option to keep busy this summer. The Scarsdale Parks and Recreation Department has opened its Teen Travel Camp to teens who will be moving on to ninth grade next year.

The program was previously open only to current fifth through seventh-graders.

The camp, featuring a different trip every day, will run a three-week session July 2-20(no camp on July 4) and a two-week session July 23-Aug. 3. The two-week session is filled, and a wait list is being formed.

Deadline for registration is 5 p.m. Friday, March 9.

The 2012 schedule will not be available until after registration is complete. Participants must have a flexible schedule during the camp season. Trips in the past have left between 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and returned between 3 and 7 p.m. A completed schedule is mailed to parents prior to season with the necessary waivers for each trip.

Past trips have included Mountain Creek Water Park, Six Flags Great Adventure, NY Skyride, Yankee Stadium Tour, ESPN Zone, deep sea fishing, indoor rock Climbing, Mets game, Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, Dorney Park, Club Getaway, Osceola Beach, Medieval Times, New Roc City, Liberty Science Center, The Beast Boat Ride NYC , rafting, tubing, indoor water parks.

The fee for the three-week session is $1,355. The two-week session costs $955.
