SCARSDALE, N.Y. – A group of enterprising Scarsdale High School graduates will have their work prominently featured on village television sets this summer after producing a series of “mini documentaries” that will air on public access television.

As part of the high school’s “Senior Options” program for members of the graduating class, five students representing different community organizations worked alongside officials at the cable network to produce the shows, which will periodically air on Verizon channel 42 and Cablevision channel 76 in Scarsdale.

The outgoing seniors each made “mini documentaries,” about the work that is being done at various local organizations. The seniors included Anito Akuetey (documenting the Weinberg Nature Center), Caroline Kristof (Scarsdale Police Department), Max Marienberg (JCC of Mid-Westchester), Joseph Murphy (Scarsdale Teen Center) and Bryan Somer (Junior League of Central Westchester).

Lorayne Fiorillo, the chairperson of the Scarsdale Cable Television Commission praised the work of the students, who “quickly learned the basics of video production, including rotating roles as writers, directors, camera operators and hosts.”

The videos can be viewed on Scarsdale Public TV or on the SPTV website .

“In six weeks, our students went from never having picked up a video camera to writing, producing, directing, editing and starring in a multitude of shows,” she said. “The students used their newly honed skills to interview prominent Scarsdale citizens.”
