Durst, 71, was officially charged in Los Angeles with lying in wait and killing a witness, which could yield him the death penalty. In addition, Louisiana officials booked him on charges of convicted felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a weapon with a controlled dangerous substance, The L.A. Times reported.
This may not be the end of the legal trouble for Durst. The recent HBO documentary "Jinxed" has prompted New York State Police investigator Joseph C. Becerra to say that both his division and the Westchester District Attrorney's office are still looking into the 1982 disappearance of Durst's wife Kathleen.
