Real NYC Housewife Ramona Singer Promotes Wine in Westchester

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -  Ramona Singer, the "Real Housewives of New York City" star known for her love of Italian white wine, came to Bronxville on Wednesday to promote her own brand of pinot grigio.

Singer, who wore a vivid red dress to match her gleaming smile, warmly addressed her fans at The Wine & Spirit Emporium of Bronxville. Fans got the chance to buy a a bottle of Ramona Singer Pinot Grigio for $15.99, and have it signed by Singer herself.

“I’m a big fan of the show,” said Leslie Hassler of Eastchester. “I’m curious to taste it, since I’m a fan of white wine.”

The wine, which debuted last summer, received positive feedback from many Bronxville taste-testers.

“I think this will be a good conversation piece for when you have people over,” said Nancy Heffernan of Eastchester.

Linda Castro of Bronxville agreed.

“This is a nice, late-summer wine,” said Castro, a fan of the show since its first season.

“I can’t wait to go home and watch the Tivo episodes of the show while enjoying my new bottle of pinot grigio,” Steven Toman of Bronxville said.

Singer, who has called making money an "aphrodisiac," first came up with the idea of launching her own wine brand after receiving emails and tweets from fans.

“People always ask me what my favorite pinot grigio is,” Singer said. “I never had a favorite wine, so I decided to make my own.”

Lee Gitter-Cruz, owner of The Wine & Spirit Emporium, wrote to Singer about a year ago, discussing women in business and entrepreneurship. Singer contacted Gitter-Cruz last month.

“When Ramona called me, she told me that she kept my business card in her wallet,” Gitter-Cruz said. Singer told Gitter-Cruz that she would be honored to do a tasting at her store.

For Singer, the pinot grigio is just the start of her brand. Singer and her husband, Mario, already have a merlot blend in the works.

“I’m more of a red wine kind of guy,” said Mario Singer.
