SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Here are the top stories of the week in Scarsdale.

  • The Scarsdale School District's $145.3 million budget failed to get a majority of votes Tuesday and required a supermajority, 60 percent, of votes because it exceeded the tax cap. The district held a public session Thursday night to get feedback from the community on how to proceed with its second vote June 18. The administration and board of education must draft and adopt a new budget by June 3.
  • Officials from Westchester schools, governments and businesses gathered in White Plains Thursday to launch Stop Albany From Taking Our Power , a movement to reduce unfunded state mandates like Medicaid, pensions and preschool special education. Those will cost the county government $464 million, while the county will only receive $249 million in state aid, County Executive Rob Astorino said.
  • A video of a chaperone who had some choice words for his 12- and 13-year-old children who were returning to Edgemont from a bat mitzvah in Manhattan has been getting attention on the Internet. The video shows him making violent threats and using expletives.
