Reform Temple In Scarsdale Honors Leaders With UJA Charity Projects

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Nearly 150 people turned out to honor three local philanthropists for their efforts.

Pam Franekl-Stein, Robin Gottlieb and Stephanie Tessler of Scarsdale were recognized on May 7 at the Westchester Reform Temple, where community members took part in activities to fund agencies supported by the UJA-Federation of New York.

“In true Pam, Robin and Stephanie form, we’ll devote this morning to helping others while highlighting the work that we, together, make possible,” event co-chair Ilissa Rothschild said in a press release.

The first project centered on building supply packages for the art program at Genesis, a shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children. This center is run by the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services, a member of the UJA-Federation network.

The second project involved creating welcome packages for residents at the Pleasantville Cottage School, a residential treatment program for kids aged 7 to 16. This residency is run by the Jewish Child Care Association, a beneficiary of the UJA-Federation.

“For those of you who have visited or have volunteered as part of the school’s lunch bunch, you know how the littlest gift goes such a long way for some of these girls and boys,” event co-chair Loryn Kass said in a press release.

The event also featured a talk by Audrey Weiner, chief executive officer of the UJA-Federation.

The Sarah Neuman Center in Mamaroneck, which offers nursing-home care and other services, received floral centerpieces to be placed on the center’s grounds.
