SCARSDALE, N.Y. It may be time in some states for straw polls, but it's also the season for straw men scarecrows, that is.
The White Plains Hospital 13th annual Scarecrow Festival is scheduled for Oct. 16 at Kids B.A.S.E., 307 Mamaroneck Road in Scarsdale .
The festival is a celebration of fall that encourages families to build, dress and accessorize their own life-sized scarecrows and take them home.

Participants are also encouraged to bring their own costumes for the scarecrows if they prefer to do so. Each scarecrow will go home with its own birth certificate.Entertainment, arts and crafts for the kids, a bake sale and raffles are included in the days festivities.
The event is sponsored by the Auxiliary of White Plains Hospital.
