Samuel “Benji” Mapp, an alleged member of the Blood Stones Army, has pleaded guilty to three counts of attempted murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder, all felonies, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr., announced on Friday.

Mapp was charged as part of a larger gang sweep in the Nodine Hill section of Yonkers in the beginning of May, which led to the arrests of several members of the Blood Stones Army, who were charged on a multi-count indictment.

Further investigation into the gang led by the Yonkers Police Department Gang Unit and the District Attorney’s Office Investigations Division Gang Firearms and Narcotics Bureau led to the three attempted murder charges for Mapp.

On Jan. 27 last year, Mapp admitted to firing several shots at rival gang members outside a Vineyard Avenue grocery store in Yonkers. He missed his targets, but one of the bullets struck an innocent shopper in the right knee, leaving him with a lifelong injury.

The following month, on Feb. 5, Mapp chased a different gang rival in the area of Ravine Avenue in Yonkers. He fired several shots at him, but again missed him. Finally, on March 30, Mapp and two other gang members chased the same rival gang member into a grocery store on Yonkers Avenue. While inside the store, Mapp and the two others punched, kicked, and stabbed the rival, causing him to puncture his abdomen and lung. He was treated and ultimately survived the assault.

Scarpino said that Mapp has pleaded guilty to “conspiring with other Blood Stones members to assert control over the Nodine Hill area by means of violence, including, but not limited to, shootings, assaults and firearms possession. Mapp and other members and associates were parties to a conspiratorial agreement to kill rivals.”

Mapp is scheduled to be sentenced on March 21 next year, when he will face a term of between 10 and 12 years in prison.
