SCARSDALE, N.Y. – A Hastings-On-Hudson man was charged with DWI after his vehicle struck a utility pole Friday morning on Fox Meadow Road in Scarsdale.

Officers were flagged down by a pedestrian who said a vehicle was blocking southbound traffic near the intersection of Walworth Avenue and Fenimore Road, according to the police report.

While they canvassed the area, police said the owner of the vehicle, Zachary Simon, approached them. According to the report, Simon, 28, said he walked toward Scarsdale Police Headquarters to report the accident, but reversed course when he saw officers at the scene.

Police said Simon's speech was slurred and that he wasn’t responding to inquiries properly. Officers administered two field sobriety tests, which Simon failed.

A Data master test revealed that Simon’s blood alcohol content was .19 percent – more than double the legal limit, police said. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, and aggravated DWI because his alcohol reading was above .18 percent. He was released on $100 bail.

Also from the Scarsdale police blotter from Nov. 19 through 26:

• A Harvest Drive residence was broken into on Friday and nearly $4,500 in jewelry was stolen. The family left the house at around 2 p.m. and returned after 7 p.m. to find the glass door leading to the family room shattered.

Police said that the door was pried from the bottom, which shattered the glass and that one glass pane was punctured so the burglars could access the lock. Exterior lights scheduled to turn on at 6 p.m. had been unscrewed but not removed.

A walk through the home revealed that four pieces of gold jewelry worth an estimated $4,650 and $200 in cash were taken from the master bedroom, which was the only room entered. The broken door was also worth an estimated $1,500.

• A Donellan Road resident had $8,000 worth of goods fraudulently charged to her credit card. The victim had gone out of the country in September and when she returned home her card was denied due to suspicious activities in Las Vegas.

The report said most of the suspicious transactions occurred in CVS stores. The card was canceled and the resident reported no fraudulent activity on her new credit card.

• A Post Road resident reported Sunday afternoon that a window in his garage had been shattered with a rock. The complainant had parked his SUV in the garage just before midnight and woke to find glass shards in the garage, police said.
