SCARSDALE, N.Y. - The Scarsdale Police Department has issued additional information about the bomb scare that led to the evacuation of the middle school last week.

Officers were dispatched to the Scarsdale Middle School shortly after 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25, after a house counselor at the school reported that a student brought her a threatening note that was reportedly found in a girl’s bathroom on a Post-It note that read “I bomb school at 12:00 p.m.”

The note led to the counselor to alert police, it was noted in a report released on Monday afternoon.

Shortly before 11:30 a.m. on the morning the note was discovered, officers coordinated with the school’s principal and director of facilities to conduct a check of the area where the note was found and administrators determined that the safest course was to evacuate the building onto the middle school field while a check for anything dangerous was conducted by officials.

The Westchester County Police Department Bomb Squad searched the interior and exterior of the building with several K-9 Units, which determined there was no dangerous device in or around the area. The area was cleared by police shortly after 12:15 p.m. and students were returned to the building.

Police took possession of the threatening note for further evaluation and the investigation into the bomb threat is ongoing.
