The Westport under-18 boys soccer team reached the championship game of the Westport Invitational Tournament before falling to the Norwalk Tornadoes. Westport earned the championship game with a 3-1 win over Newtown. The Westport Soccer Association sponsored the tournament.
It featured more than 100 teams from throughout the region. Girls played Saturday; and boys competed Sunday. The tournament featured six-on-six matchups in 25-minute games. The games were played on fields reduced in size.
In other boys championship games, Everton Academy defeated Westport White for the under-11 championship; Wilton defeated Westport, 3-0, for the under-12 title; Westport Blue defeated Wilton, 3-1, for the under-13 crown; and the Norwalk Thunder defeated the Norwalk Gladiators, 5-1, for the under-14-15 title.
