The Ramapo Valley Road stored opened its doors in mid-February and Kresge planned a grand opening ceremony at 3:30 p.m. March 3 with Mayor Linda Schwager.
"It's very exciting to be able to finally put out the sign and have our neighbors come in and see us," Kresge told Daily Voice.
Kresge worked in the pet industry for years and runs the store now with his wife Susan. The couple have a rescued shelter dog at home.
The store carries products for cats and dogs, plus fish, birds, reptiles and small mammals.They also have a self-serve pet wash station.
Pet Supplies Plus has more than 300 stores nationwide.
Once settled, Kresge said he wants to look into pet adoption and fundraising events at the store.
