According to the Putnam Humane Society, which had been caring for him, the lost dog had been picked up on Watermelon Hill Road.

His relieved owners came to “retrieve” the pooch earlier this week.

When he was rescued, he was clean and appeared to be in good health, meaning he wasn’t outside in the cold for a long period of time, a shelter official said Sunday.

The shelter is located at 68 Old Route 6, Carmel.
