At a presentation in an activities period, Rachel Carpietella, the Greenburgh Nature Center Sustainability Coordinator & Educator, told how the bottles negatively impact the environment and explained their rise in popularity, for marketing and economic reasons.

And Katia Barker, a student at Convent of the Sacred Heart in Greenwich, Conn., talked about her fundraising organization, groundSWELL, which raised $16,500 to drill a clean water well in Africa through the Thirst Project.

The club will install a second water fountain filling station at the Upper School and will pay for a third from an Iona Prep reusable water bottle fundraiser.
