There will be two public comment sessions both at 7:30 p.m.Thursday and May 29, at Scarsdale High School's board meeting rooms 170-172.
Superintendent of Schools Michael McGill issued the following statement Wednesday in regard to the public voting down the 2013-2014 budget Tuesday night.
"Tuesday's decisive school budget defeat demonstrated that the proposal did not reflect the wishes of a majority of voters at this time. The board of education and administration understand it did not represent a rejection of Scarsdale's commitment to educational excellence. However, the message clearly is to exercise more financial restraint.
"The Board is entering a listening period in which it invites feedback on steps that should be taken to ensure a successful vote on a second proposal. In addition to receiving informal input, the Board will host two sessions for public comment.
"The first session will be Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The second session will be next Wednesday also at 7:30 p.m. Both sessions will be in the board meeting rooms 170-171 at Scarsdsale High School.
"At its next regular meeting on June 3, the board will review options and adopt a new budget proposal for 2013-14. After a legally-prescribed waiting period, the public will have an opportunity to vote on this second proposal June 18 at the middle school.
"The Board is committed to developing a second proposal that will merit widespread support and seeks the help of all residents in creating a plan that will unite the community."
