SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Scarsdale students recently did their part for Global Citizenship Day by packing meals for a local charity.
Led by social studies teacher Nicola Minchillo, the high school students boxed up items for the Food for Hope Soup Kitchen.
The Junior Class Government helped organize the October event, school officials said.
The purpose of the day was to foster awareness of the economic, environmental, and political problems facing the planet.
It also sought to enlighten students about important global trends.
Speakers from the community, professors, service organizations, teachers, and student groups held workshops on a variety of topics including: climate change, sustainable agriculture, educational equity, and LGBT rights.
