SCARSDALE, N.Y. Three young Scarsdale pianists will perform in a recital at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Music Tower at Scarsdale High School. The recital is free and open to the public.
Boeun Choi, Kyoko Hirota and Kentaro Nakajima comprise the school's first-ever piano class and will offer selections by Chopin, Ravel, Liszt, Bach and Beethoven. The class is under the direction of John Cuk.
"This class is the first of its kind," Cuk said. "It is for advanced pianists, by audition, who receive weekly coaching, study and research of their piano works, play for each other and critique, give two public performances a year and perform and view master classes with distinguished pianists from The Manhattan School of Music."
Boeun is a sophomore, while Kyoko and Kentaro are seniors.
