Giants Receiver Victor Cruz Signs Autographs in Scarsdale

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Last Licks in Scarsdale got a visit from a Super Bowl champion as New York Giants' wide receiver Victor Cruz took the time to sign autographs for fans and memorabilia collectors Saturday afternoon.

Cruz, 25, burst onto the scene last season, scoring nine touchdowns and adding more than 1,500 receiving yards for the Giants. Brandon Steiner, owner of Steiner Sports, based in New Rochelle, who co-hosted the event with Last Licks, said the event was meant to not only give Giants fans a chance to meet one of their heroes but it also served as a way to celebrate Last Licks new location on Palmer Avenue.

"When a player gets popular, they get around and it's great that Victor did this," Steiner said. "He's such a great guy on and off the field and I know people enjoyed meeting him."

One of the autograph seekers, 9-year old Jacob Dietz of Scarsdale, said he likes Cruz because of his touchdown dances. Dietz said Cruz has inspired him in his own dance classes as well.

"The Giants beat the Patriots, their arch-enemy in the Super Bowl and I was so happy," Dietz said. "It's so cool to meet a football player live."

Last Licks Owner Dimitrois Catechis said having Cruz at his business not only gave fans the chance to meet one of the Giants but it also exposed them to his store. A Giants fan, Catechis said he likes Cruz because of his youthful energy.

"If he continues the way he began, he's going to be a Hall of Famer," Catechis said. "Hopefully, it will be with the Giants."
