An alert has been issued to residents advising that Palmer Avenue will be temporarily closed on Friday between Innes and Wynmor Roads as Con Edison Crews repair the busted transformer.

Police said that residents and businesses may have noted a loud sound when the transformer failed and should take notice that there is no public safety threat associated with this incident.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area, if possible. Officials said the duration of the closure will be dependent on Con Edison’s ability to complete the necessary repairs to the transformer.
